I remember using a component (ICS ?) that listed none, plain, login, ntlm, and a few more. I'm now going to use the built in indy component and am trying to see how many authentication types it has and it talks about SASL and has a link to like 20+ different ones if I am understanding it. For those of you who have implemented smtp emailing from an application, what do you commonly have for settings?

Indy currently implements 10 auth types that can be used with SASL (and thus
can be used in SMTP, POP3, and IMAP):

CRAM-MD5
CRAM-SHA1
NTLM
Anonymous
Digest
External
Login
OTP
Plain
SKey

If needed, you can also implement your own types as well. For instance,
I know there are some 3rd party implementations for OAuth floating around.

For those of you who have implemented smtp emailing from an
application, what do you commonly have for settings?
