When I try to run an existing or new Android app using Berlin 10.1, I get this error:

[PAClient Error] "paclient" exited with code 217.

I get the error with an existing iOS app that I'm trying to port over or a new "Hello World" app with a button and a label.

The error isn't listed here:

http://docwiki.embarcadero.com/RADStudio/Berlin/en/Platform_Assistant_Server_Errors_Index

I get the error whether I try to run on the simulator or an actual device. It also doesn't matter whether it's run as debug or release.

Does anyone know what the error code means?

Thanks.

Jeff

It may help to have the detail from the "Output" tab of the Messages window in the IDE.

Now what can cause this runtime error?
I guess that one is reported back as paclient error 217.

217 is usually an exception that occurs before SysUtils is initialised or after it is finalised. Presumably paclient is failing, causing this error. It may be failing when --Clean is being passed to it, so you may want to do this manually. i.e remove the files in the .\Android\Debug\Project6 folder (or the whole Debug folder and its contents), and the C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Embarcadero\Studio\Projects\Tests\Project6.@emb.tmp file.

Does the error occur if you separate project, from scratch? (just a blank one should do)

Thanks for the responses. I tried the delete files suggestion first with the same error.

I created a new clean folder and new blank project with the same result (Error 217).

For recommendation, follow the link with process for manual uninstallation approved by the Embarcadero:
https://community.embarcadero.com/article/articles-support/174-rad-studio/installation-registration/16235-manual-uninstall-of-rad-studio-delphi-c-builder-10-1-berlin

worked perfectly!

You mean that for avoiding this error must be reinstalled the whole Delphi again?
I have the same error after Berlin Update 2.
