Access violation TClientDataSet when setting active to true at design time

tclientdataset , xe7

Does anyone know why this happens? I can set it to true fine at run time. I was looking at hooking up a report so need the fields accessible at design time.

In XE8 there is no AV when setting active to true in design time but a message: "ClientDataSet: Missing data provider or data packet"

I've seen that message also. As it goes, anything I attempt to do anything on the right-click of the component (such as create dataset), also creates an AV.

I've seen that message also. As it goes, anything I attempt to do anything on the right-click of the component (such as create dataset), also creates an AV.

I can only check in XE8 and I can't get it in a AV.
There is no "Create Dataset" on the right-mouse-click, but "Assign local data" and "Load from MyBase Table".
Whatever I do it gives a proper selected dialog or the "ClientDataSet: Missing data provider or data packet" message.
Did you check this with a clean new project, form and ClientDataSet?
If this causes the same AV then it might be a bug in XE7, but I didn't saw any reports
on this forum about this and a lot of people working with ClientDataSet.
Did you install all XE7 updates?
