Strange W10 Problem

I have an installation program which has been working for many years.
Recently, I happened to make some changes to this program and noticed
that the registration part of the program always fails - using W10. I
tested some older programs on W10 with the same result. Then I tested
all these on a W7 PC, and everything worked normally.

The program uses a helper executable (compiled with D2007) to carry out
the registration calculations (using Turbopower onguard). This helper
program takes it's input data from an ini file and writes the result to
the same ini file; both the helper exe and the ini file are copied to
the temp folder: c:\users\<account name>\appdata\local\temp\ during
installation, and the main installation executable sends the data to
and from the ini file. The ini file permissions etc are all ok and the
input data is all there - it's just that the helper program can't read
the data on W10. Tried compiling the helper exe with Tokyo 10.2, but
same result.

Anyone got any insights into this issue?

Further investigation reveals that all works ok on my W10 laptop but
not my main W10 Desktop. So it's not a W10 issue. Looks like some sort
of permissions issue on the main Desktop. Any ideas on what that could
be and how to fix it?

Not sure if this is the right NG to post on, but couldn't see a better
alternative?

Never mind. The problem is caused by my two word user name - John Doe -
which the installation program on my main computer sends to the helper
program as param: c:\users\John\... and on all others as c:\users\John
Doe\...Hence, the helper program on my main PC (only) cannot find the ini
file in the user temp folder. Go figure!
