Mac Machine Required

Good morning,
I am using XE8 C++ Ent. with Windows 10 Pro.
Building a Multi-Device Application.

I have a couple of applications created that I can now put on the Android store. I have built these with my Samsung Plugged in - and this has worked well.
I would also like to be able to target the iPhone / iPad market.
Going through several videos, it looks like I need additional hardware - a Mac machine with OS10 - to hook up the devices there for testing ?

Is it possible to :
• use an additional PC - and install the OS10 download - as some of these other videos show - will that work, or
• a Virtual Machine running the OS10 download, or
• some form of a simulator, or
• am I required to purchase a Mac ?
if so - this is outside of my knowledge - what would be the minimum requirements I would require to have to purchase?

Thanks in advance
Andrew

Not only for testing. The Mac must have installed Xcode in order include in the app the development/distribution profile
and to sign the app with an Apple certificate.

In order to have the certificate and the profile you must enroll in the Apple Development Program ($99/year).

Apple lets you install the OSX operating system only on hardware manufactured by Apple itself. If you install OSX in a
virtual machine it must also run in a Mac.

• am I required to purchase a Mac ?

Yes if you want to be legal.

if so - this is outside of my knowledge - what would be the minimum requirements I would require to have to purchase?

Bonjour,

I was exactly in the same situation as yours, 2 years ago. :-)
I suggest : buy a MacBook Air, it's less expense than a MacBook Pro, and the result is the same.

Be carefull of 2 points :
- you must compile to 64 bits.
- you must use Xcode 8 instead of Xcode 9. In case or your Mac is in Xcode 9, you have to downgrade to 8.

Best regards

Gabriel

Thank you both for the answers and objectivity. And yes, I will do what's required to be legal.

Thank you,

A Mac OSX system is required for both compiling and testing OSX and iOS
apps.

Is it possible to :
• use an additional PC - and install the OS10 download - as some of
these other videos show - will that work

Technically yes, but legally no. OSX is not designed to run on a PC,
but it can be done if you use a hacked version of OSX.

https://www.howtogeek.com/178031/why-is-it-still-so-difficult-to-install-os-x-on-pcs/

• a Virtual Machine running the OS10 download

Technically yes, but legally no. OSX is not meant to be run outside of
Apple environments, that that includes in VMs. An OSX guest VM can
be run on a non-Apple host if you use a hacked version of OSX.

• am I required to purchase a Mac ?

If you don't want to buy an actual Mac machine, consider using
http://www.macincloud.com instead, which you can rent on an as-needed
basis, and already has RADStudio PAServer installed for remote access.

It may be possible, but it is not allowed. That probably also means you
won't be able to register stuff with it.

OS X is only valid when it comes with a Mac.

Thank you to everyone who has responded.
I have always been a Windows guy, and now with some really exciting apps I've built, I'd like to put these on the Apple store.
I appreciate all comments, and of course I'd like to do this the right way.
I was in the Apple store this week, I was advised of the MacMini - comes with OS10, and USB ports,...
Budget is an issue.
Anyone familiar, or know if this will suffice ?

Thanks in advance
Andrew

Yes, it will suffice. You won't be able to make big jumps with it, but
it will definitely suffice for the purpose.
