I have a large program (several hundred forms) and suddenly it won't compile. It gives the following error information:

[dcc32 Fatal Error] F2039 Could not create output file '.\Win32\Debug\AmeriVet.exe'

Can someone please tell me what this error means and how to go about correcting it?

I'm dead in the water untill I get some help!

Thanks,
Jim Sawyer

The error means that the exe in question is still either running or
locked by the IDE for some reason. Check TaskManager, if the process is
still running, try to kill it. If you cannot, see if the Run menu of
the IDE still shows it as running and try to reset the process from
there. Close and restart the IDE if that fails. THen try to manually
delete the exe from Windows Explorer. If that also fails, use the
time-honored cure-all method of software support: reboot the PC.

In addition to Peter's comments, the IDE or compiler sometimes gets in a twist. I don't know whet version you're using but I've seen it in XE7 and Delphi 10 Seattle.
Sometimes doing a Build instead of a Compile helps, sometimes I have to kill Delphi and restart it.
I don't have anything as big as yours, though.

Thanks! The old reboot did it.
