Hi,

I'm new here and by mistake, I put this question in the "off topic" thread.

My question is:

I want to develop for Android, but I hate Java.
I've never develop for mobile but I'm a Delphi fan.

What are the differences between Delphi and HTML5 Builder
for mobile development, beyond the obvious difference from Pascal to PHP and JavaScript ?

Another question:

MTML5 Builder have 4 types of projects:

- Mobile Client
- Mobile Server
- Web Client
- Web Server

What are the difference between these 4 kinds of projects?

This is very confusing because RadPHP only had one type of project (web server I think)

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I don't really know HTML5 builder, but I'm not sure it's till actively
developed.

If you'd use Delphi you would use the Firemonkey (FMX) GUI framework and
a form designer to design your forms and traditional Delphi code (the
mobile compiler doesn't support some of the string types) and thus the
IDE which you should know well enough already.

One difference is, that Delphi Android apps get comparatively big,
because it uses the NDK and it needs to compile quite some stuff from
FMX in in order to work. But you can simply press F9 in the IDE, have
the project compiled, installed on your connected Android device and
run. Debugging basically works. The Android debug support doesn't
understand quite a few of the types properly though. And afaik that's
not going to change too soon, as they need to switch to some different
debugger "kernel" which is still work in progress afaik.

Develop on HTMLBuilder stopped a few years ago. It is not linked to on the
main Embarcadero site anymore (though the actual product page still exists
- http://www.embarcadero.com/products/HTML5-Builder), and it is not available
in the online store.

I already guessed so.
