Especially when you combine Delphi with Pascal (as you should).

My psychic powers predict that at least one yahoo will use this to
somehow prove that Delphi is dead or dying.

How so? I see lots of other languages mentioned along side Delphi.

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone else hear other than myself (and,
well, Q - obviously <G>) who doesn't use Twitter (or FaceBook, or ...)?

I suppose you could call my use of these newsgroups 'the OLD social
media', but I don't use any of the current ones...

I've been on twitter for a while. Seems mostly to be a forum for people
to say "Look how clever I am!"

I've gravitates more to weekly dev digests and RSS. Twitter is mostly
useless.

Then you are following the wrong people. :-)

I've been on Twitter since 2007, and I find it an invaluable resource
for tech news and programming insight. You do need to work at curating
your timeline to only include people of interest. But once you've done
that, it can be pretty handy.

I've also had countless unique experiences, thanks to contact via
Twitter. This includes racing a Porche 911 Turbo around a race track,
and seeing my favourite rugby team play from the comforts of a
corporate box, surrounded by players from that team.

It's also proven to be a very effective way to communicate with local
companies, for both support and general banter. Although sometimes our
banks can get a wee bit carried away :-)

I've curated it. It helped somewhat, but most of the people I follow's
info shows up in my weekly dev digests. I use it strictly for tech info.

I find weekly digests more attuned to my preference for consuming
articles. RSS keeps me up on tech news. Google+ for Delphi.

Just a personal preference I guess. I've gotten much more into batch
consumption or I find myself being distracted all day by the latest set
of tweets.

I did notice when i complain in twitter to a company they tend to be
very responsive.

Why yes, yes it is...

It goes to show that (many...) Delphi developers live in their own
"bubble" and don't look at any other languages :)

How so? I see lots of other languages mentioned along side Delphi.

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone else hear other than myself
(and, well, Q - obviously <G>) who doesn't use Twitter (or FaceBook,
or ...)?

I suppose you could call my use of these newsgroups 'the OLD social
media', but I don't use any of the current ones...

I am also sure that there is at least one other such person in the
Universe . . . .

I guess the dataset I was looking at mostly had just "Delphi, Pascal"
entries. I see some other entries now.

The bubbles are only in the app. <g>

For what I write, C#, .NET, Swift etc are not options.

I find it amazing in the COde2015 top list, how few are real languages
and how even fewer are native languages.

Most of them are scripting languages :)

Lazarus is an excellent tool and involves quickly. I thought they add
every new tool someone votes for. They include tenths of tools that I
have never heard before like "Brainfuck", "Moonscript", "Brightscript"
and so on. I don't think these are more popular than Lazarus and Free
Pascal. If I knew, I would have voted for just "Pascal"in addition to
Delphi.

Yeah, but we should cut the poor guy some slack, what with the sad
state of Python. He really should take a page from Ian Bicking's book.

Don't think so..

Python is more and more used in Robotics and other hardware driven devices, like Raspberry Pi.
The script language is then driving the main software API, mainly written in C++.
Also it is now often used as a "starting" education language.
No costs, runs on all OSses and it has a lot of (scientific) libraries.
