If you enable dictation on IPAD and try and use voice entry or tedit or tmemo, application crashes. It works if you set control type to platform, but 3rd party controls (Such as TMS) do not have the control type property.

Has anyone got voice input to work (Or at least not crash) leaving control type as default value of styled?

I have several customers that want this capability

Hello,

as statement like "the application crashes" is a bit too general. Are
there any specific failure messages? If run via debugger, does that one
tell any exception or show a stacktrace or whatever?

Markus,

I cannot run in Delphi debug mode as the program is built for ADHOC and the client only provided their distribution cert not their development cert.
I can try and see what is going on via the MAC XCode tools.

There is not error messages the app just quits.

Here is part of trace log from mac

Hello,

1. please post your answers below the text you're answering to the next

2. Not being an iOS expert this line of your stacktracke:
[NSException raise:format:arguments:]

indicates to me that there might be some format string involved
which has not been handled properly?
Does your app use format strings somewhere?

Sorry for the faux pas on replying.

My test app consists of just a Tedit and a Tmemo.
click into the Tedit, click the microphone, say "hello" and the app crashes. If I set the controltype property on the Tedit to platform, it works.

I tried it and can confirm that app crashes when edit and memo are in Styled mode and works when in Platform mode.

Obviously, the non-native Firemonkey edit and memo were never designed to work with voice recognition.

Since I paid my $99 to Apple I can debug the app, but I can see you are never going get it to work with the styled controls.

Why cant you use the "Platform" setting? The controls seem to fit in and work with the rest of firemonkey.

Hello,

if it doesn't work with the styled ones I guess they have a bug, right?

No activity on posted issue at .embarcadero QC. I was hoping to have at least a fix where the application does not crash.

Partial fix found by another user (Thank you) and is documented in the QC report RSP-13152. Prevents Crash, and shows spoken text, but only after you click done on keyboard. So sad that Embarcadero does not supply a fix for this.

There is a Partial fix that can be used. Not pretty, but does work if anyone is desperate to have voice input on styled text input controls. Please refer to QC report below for details in comments section.
