Could be because there's at least a little more than Delphi, did this
statement not cover it...

"The application performance tools deliver similar business benefits to
an entirely new community of users working to build great solutions for
customers."

Or Idera products either.

It does mention "application developers" before "database developers."
Taken the way some people want to view this, maybe all those database
admins should be worried.

Personally, I see nothing here but a vanilla statement about a routine
acquisition. These things happen all the time. It has happened to
Delphi before.

I'll reserve any judgment for the time when something actually happens
one way or the other with Delphi vis. Idera.

The next release is just six short months away, so we'll know soon
enough.

no synergy for Delphi, no perspective. Looks as Intera integrate the database products while Delphi has not plan (beside paying back the money to the bank).

They should sell Delphi to a firm who loves Delphi.

I don't think he's working with C# anymore, or at least detoured.

Isn't he also responsible for typescript?

Not sure

Yep. It's pretty nice although i'm waiting for the async/await support

Angular 2 will support typescript. Going to be a killer combo.

David I just talked about this in the CodeRage X Delphi Product Address.

He says that they are still focused on development tools and that Idera
is "totally committed to CodeGear".

If the CodeGear reference sounds odd, Embarcadero employees still
sometimes refer to CodeGear and DatabaseGear internally to describe the
two parts of the business.

Of course I'm a little biased, but this is exactly the kind of
reassurance I was hoping to hear.

Me too. Come on guys and girls, let's have some positivity on these forums for once. Some of us have forged our career thanks to Delphi and I, for one, am very happy with it at the moment.

Exactly.

Which isn't to say that everything is perfect. If you want to let
Embarcadero (Idera?) know what you think or need, there are lots of
constructive ways to do so.

LOL -- I was thinking the same thing.

Please forgive me, folks who are seriously advocating this, but having
the community buy Delphi is one of the silliest ideas I've ever heard.

I don't know why I got named N/A programmer, and asked to have it changed some years ago but it wasn't. The name field is readonly on the control panel. Other than that, I appreciate the joke :-).

Well,

The deal came for the better. I doubt any company would spend any money out of love.

And delphi has that thingy... some falls in love at first sight... some might need some more time ...
As long as QPS continues, I'm ok with it!

I'll go to Embarcadero Conference Brazil this Wednesday. If they mention anything new, I'll post on this thread.

Don't know, the fact that it's on the same place, with the same number of classes as last year, seems good news on itself.

There will be 3 slides presented at the Brazil conference that are very
clear about Embarcadero developer tools business inside Idera. This is
the same message I presented during the CodeRage X product addresses
for Delphi and C++:

Embarcadero + Idera - a Bigger, Stronger, Focused company

Bigger = more resources
Stronger = lots of synergies and mutual best practices
Focused = committed to Developers
Releasing robust, reliable tools
Engaging new developers
Extend the core and invest in new related products and technologies
Embarcadero Developer Network is a critical part of helping us grow
