Trying to debug in XE5 (Delphi 32 bit) but even if I set the
Project/Options target = Debug Win32 I do not get any blue dots on the
source lines when I do a build!
Therefore no stop on any breakpoint.

What could be causing this? I am very confused by the Project/Options
dialogue, there are so many more settings than in D2007....

Not working even after closing and starting RAD Studio XE5.
Also tried starting in Delphi XE5 mode, but the same happens.
There are no blue dots generated when building, compiling or running
the program. So no breakpoints active either....

What in the world could be causing this strange behaviour?
And how can I enable debugging?

Note that you don't switch the debug/release mode in the Project Options dialog.
What's in there is only the settings for different targets.

You do the actual switch by double clicking on the build configuratian you want in the Project manager pane.
The current build configuratian becomes bold.
Is that the problem?

Project manager???
Oh, the rightmost pane where the project files are listed....
I had no idea something like that is in there. Thanks!
Now I got the blue dots when I made a build.

You also might find that if you have accidentally uninstalled Microsoft J Builder the compiler will react in this manner.

I found this out the hard way over zealously cleaning out my PC wiping J builder out without knowing it was related to the XE compiler!

Go back and run your installation program again and it will discover and fix this...
