I have a series of applications which use the same function. I want to store this function in a .dll just to make it easier however i cant figure out how to connect the dll to the database needed within the function.

Any help would be fantastic

Why don't you just move the function to a unit of its own, which you
then use in all the projects? You can make it a method of a helper
class. Each application would then create an instance of the helper
class and pass the dataset (or whatever you need to access) as
parameter to the helper class constructor.
