I have been trying for a while now to get push notifications working on Android FMX using Firebase Cloud Messaging (replaced Google Cloud Messaging service) as the provider without success. All the examples I have found propose various different methods & components, none of which I can get to work. Is there a simple example or video that can walk me through creating a basic Android app that can receive push notifications? For now I'm only focusing on the client side, and will look at the backend service at a later stage.

FWIW: I have created a project on Firebase, and have my ApplicationID, Web API Key and Server Key.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I think over in the Firemonkey group there was some discussion about
such a thing lately.

Greetings

Yes thanks, however, I couldn't get past the instructions for ACTED where you click on "Create R Jar", as Aapt.exe crashes every time (unhandled exception 17808)

There should be more information from Aapt aside from the unhandled exception message, such as a dump of the callstack.
Can you provide that for me?

A possible cause is selecting JDK 1.8 instead of JDK 1.7 in the configuration of ACTED (as described in step 4 of the
article)
