Starting XE2 I hit the follow scenario during the splash screen: 1.
It complains about AQtime startup with a dialog offering to send
details to SmartBear. That dialog allows continue Delphi startup or
XE2 continues to load packages but then stops (hangs) "Loading
package dclib160.bpl. 3 The hang is infinite. 4. I have rebooted,
Neither of these are IW or AZ pkgs, nor are the 3P libs that we connect
to. dclib160 may be a core Delphi lib though.
Yes, I'm sure dcib160 is a core lib.
So, the question: 1. Before I uninstall and reinstall Delphi, what do
you guys suggest as an option to get this going again? 2. How can
Remove the trouble pkgs manually, or run a repair on Delphi.
How do I remove packages manually? I've renamed a couple of bpl's. I haven't studied how Delphi installs packages (registry entries and files) so I may have to dig into that.
Did the IW install have anything to do with it? I don't see how, and
I don't see how as they are not pkgs of ours.
I don't see it either, but need to check the possibility. Changes (last changes) are usually the culprit. But, not always.
ran Delphi except installing the update. It still is possible that
a virus scan (MS Essentials) may have whacked a file.
Possible.
I forgot to mention that I had already run the Delphi install in "repair" mode. When that didn't help I ran it again in "change" mode and unchecked AQtime and some other options I don't use. No change (I even still got the AQtime error dialog). I'm guessing that's because a "change" will add files but not do partial uninstall.
I'm trying to avoid rebuilding the Delphi install and settings, but I'm beginning to see the way out is through that dark tunnel. Before I do that I'll export the registry so I have a record of settings.
I hate it when unproductive stuff like this happens.
Thanks,
Dan
