I've tried previously to swap from ISO installer to ESD installer, but

Does anyone have any hints about how to do this - I've gone as far as
a full uninstall, registry keys included AND manually removing any
directories and registry keys on top of that.

It sill somehow fails.

Berlin and Tokyo are different versions. You cannot install Tokyo over
Berllin. However you can have both version at the same time or
uninstall Berlin.

That wasn't the question.... however it seems the issue of converting
from ISO install to ESD install isn't a problem when you upgrade, only
when you stay at the same version (e.g. Berlin ISO -> Berlin ESD).
