Please help.

I have Delphi XE5 installed and have been using it for a couple of years. Now suddenly something has gone wrong with the installation.

When I select File|Open, instead of displaying the File|Open dialog, the program closes. Can anyone tell me how to fix this.

I ran the installer and selected the Repair option. But that did not fix it.

Please help. I hope someone can provide me a fix for this without having to completely uninstall and reinstall Delphi and all my third party components.

Thanks,
Randall H. Carpenter

The IDE's copy protection is being invoked at startup. If unauthorized non-Embarcadero
files are placed in the IDE's \bin folder, the actions of the file menu's
Open and Exit items are swapped. You need to find the offending files in
the \bin folder and remove them.

Thank you Remy! We were just using FastMM to look for a memory leak and my co-worker was really confused when he could no longer open a file.

Seems like an odd decision for copy protection, but easy enough to fix in our case. We are using 10.1 Berlin so this affects more than XE5

Yes, Thank You.

Is there a log file anywhere that identifies the bad file? There sure are a lot of files in that directory.

Not that I am aware of. But only official Borland/Embarcadero files
should be in the folder, so look for any files that did not come from
them.

Try ordering by modified date. The outliers should be pretty obvious and the
Embarcadero supplied ones will be clumped together except for a couple config files.
