Hi All,

Still confused about all the posts regarding this issue. It takes a lot of time (sometimes days) to figure out if Apple approves my app.

I have quite some users still on iPhone4, who cannot upgrade to iOS9.

I understood that iOS 9 is backward compatible with iOS 7 and 8, e.g. that apps that are build for 7 or 8 and are already published in the appstore can be downloaded, installed and run fine on iOS 9.

With Delphi Seattle, what versions of PAServer and XCode do I need to

- have the iOS 7 SDK's visible in my Seattle environment
- have the iOS 7 simulators available
- compile and deploy so my apps are approved by Apple and run fine on iOS 7, 8 and 9?

tia!
John

Seattle does not support the iOS 7 SDK. This is clearly stated in Embarcadero's
documentation:

Adding a Mac OS X or iOS SDK
http://docwiki.embarcadero.com/RADStudio/Seattle/en/Adding_a_Mac_OS_X_or_iOS_SDK

RAD Studio does not support versions of the iOS SDK lower than 8.0.

You need the following Hotfix in order to use the iOS 9 SDK to compile apps
for iOS 7 and 8:

PAServer Hotfix for Delphi, C++Builder and RAD Studio 10 Seattle
http://cc.embarcadero.com/item/30398

anyone else get it work?

Remy,

Thanks for responding, but still confused.
I have the paserver hotfix applied.
Does it mean that if I compile using the iOS 9 SDK, the resulting app should run on iOS7 & 8 as well?

tnx for clarifying

That is what the page says:

This PAServer Hotfix provides fixes for:
• building OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) applications with Delphi, C++Builder and
RAD Studio 10 Seattle
• building iOS applications that run on iOS 7, iOS 8 and iOS 9 using the
iOS 9 SDK with Delphi, C++Builder and RAD Studio 10 Seattle

yes...but has anyone actually got that combo to work
(compiled against iOS9 and code 7.1 and then works on a device with only iOS7)

Nope, I couldn't. Don't have such a device available. So fingers crossed.

I've just had an app accepted on the App Store, and it has been tested as working on an iPhone 4 (iOS 7 32-bit), iPad 2 (iOS 7 32-bit), iPhone 5 (iOS 9 64-bit) and iPhone 6 (iOS 9 64-bit).

This was using DX 10 Seattle, iOS SDK 8.4, Xcode 6.4.

I have installed the PAServer patch but this is not necessary because I haven't upgraded to iOS SDK 9.
