That is not much data to go on..

What Delphi version are you using?
What version of Firebird are you using?
How are you writing your data to the database? Query-wise?
Are you using Param(x).asstring, asansistring or aswidestring?

I believe in this case Widestring is prefferred

you'r right, sorry...

i use Delphi XE5 (i use FireDAC that came with the XE5)
Firebird 2.5.1
(and intraweb 14.0.36 if it matters)

when i write to the db, i use ParamByName.
but the thing is that i don't have any problem writing, but i can't read the data from 2 tables.

the database character set is UTF8 and i made sure that each field and collate is also set to UTF8.
however, i'm not sure if i set the database to UTF8 from the beginning, or maybe i changed it to utf8 only later after i already had a few tables...

Since it happened with the Firebird tools too it is a server related issue and
not a Delphi one. I would suggest oyu ask on the Firebird support forums about it.

Did you remember to set Use UniClient True in Spesific options of the
connection component?
This error comes when this is not done and national characters is used.

But since you have the error in other viewers it's likely an Firebird
setup error.
