Hello hello hello, is there anybody in there? Is NNTP shut down permanently? Or am I experiencing an operator headspace and timing issue?

I believe you are in a time-space bubble with nowhere inside it.

Because everything else is right how it should be.... ;)

The forums are still glitching on a fairly regular basis and might be straight up unavailable or come back with a security warning for a little while every couple of days.

Also, after the crash a few weeks ago, something happened to the message IDs, so you might not see new messages using NNTP unless you refreshed your (now truncated) message history.

But if that's the case, then you might not see this response.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the reply. I'm in the web client (yuk) but my NNTP client (tbird) hasn't seen an update since early September.

Wonder if I need to delete the entire emb acct and start over? Or is there some lesser evil that can be performed to set things right?

Thanks.

I use XanaNews and had to download all messages, which basically wiped my existing history (which I probably should have backed up first) and re-downloaded everything from the server.

I'm not sure if there was some way to re-sync the news reader with the server without taking such drastic steps.

Thanks.

The crash back then required a reset to a DB about 3 weeks old. This means you
need to reset all the groups so the message id's reflect that. You have read
message id's over that 3 week period and unless you reset your newsgroups you
won't see new messages until the id's are > than what you saw before the crash.

Thanks Jeff. I unsubscribed from nontech, then resubscribed, and I got the new messages.

Thanks to all who replied.

Try the new ones at community.embarcadero.com. They also are having a bit of problems but some of the features are well worth the effort.
