XE6 error: unable to modify Visual Components

We've just installed XE6 at Duke University and I'm having my students open zipped C++ project files created under RadStudio 2010. On fixing the "double-dot" error referred to in a previous post, we find that we can modify the Unit.cpp code and modify the properties of the Visual Components, but when we compile, modifications to the Visual Components don't "stick." "Make" and "Build" don't fix the problem. It is as though XE6 does not "see" the modifications made to the Visual Components. Modifications to the code are reflected in the final executable; modifications to the VCs are not. We never had this problem with any previous versions. Any suggestions?
Thank you, Nick
