I found this library on google but did not find any sample code. I'm also in search of this routine to meet some projects.

I am also looking for such component and would appreciate if you keep us updated in this thread. Ideally a component would use camera of the device to video (scan) the printed image and then recognize the barcode and return its result.

I would certainly be willing to pay for such component and I see a good business opportunity for component developer to make these types of utilities (extensive list of components which would possibly be developed by a component vendor for FideMonkey / IOS can be found here: https://marketplace.appcelerator.com)

I tested it and it works.
Library is statically linked into the executable so no problems with Apple.

Is this only working when you compile for real device? If I compile for emulator I get many errors.

There is a problem abut screen change direction, the bar code scanner area shows a very strange action,
It does not follow the pad move direction .
I don't know to how to change the behavior of the view frame?
Could you show me a little hint.

Thanks

This might help

function SharedApplication:UIApplication;
begin
Result:=TUIApplication.Wrap(TUIApplication.OCClass.sharedApplication);
end;

procedure TForm1.FormResize(Sender: TObject);
begin
if assigned(ZBarCode) then
begin

ZBarCode.setFrame(WindowHandleToPlatform(self.Handle).View,CGRectMake((clientwidth div 2)-150,(clientheight div 2),300,300));

orient:=sharedapplication.statusBarOrientation;
case orient of
1: Zbarcode.View.setTransform(CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(0));
2: Zbarcode.View.setTransform( CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(-180*(pi/180)));
3: Zbarcode.View.setTransform( CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(-90*(pi/180)));
4: Zbarcode.View.setTransform( CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(+90*(pi/180)));
end;
end;

end;

Hi: Pete
You are great!!!!
your code is perfect!!!
Ask you a question:
How do you know to use : ZBarCode.setFrame(WindowHandleToPlatform(self.Handle).View,CGRectMake((clientwidth div 2)-150,(clientheight div 2),300,300));
Could you introduce some book or any information about this!

Thanks

Hi !

Does anyone know how i can place the ZBarcode on a Tabitem ?

I'm using a Tabcontrol but can't get it to work on one of the Tabitems.

For instance to place it on TabItem2 ?

Thanks !

Rob

// Maybe it's wiser to make a new thread regarding this. Will do now.

Nowadays barcode scanner can be integreted into many platforms. I am sure it is possible. But first, you should figuire out what type of barcode do you want to scan first. If you want to scan qr code, you can use a qr code scaner . If you want to scan code 39, then you can use a code 39 scanner . If you want to scan all linear barcode, then you can use a linear barcode scanner, etc. Then put this on google with the platform and find the suitable tool. I believe you can find it soon.

What sort of scanning are you referring to.
If you are writing this for some sort of mobile device (smartphone
etc) and therefore using a built in camera to capture an image, then
the suggestion made by Paul Miller is good.

If you are going to use a device to scan the barcodes then generally
the device will return a string that you can handle either via the
keyboard buffer, or serial port (depending on the hardware)

I've tried the ZXing solution on Android and iOS also, and it works fine.

Android:
http://www.file-upload.net/download-8601754/TKRBarCodeSanner.zip.html

iOS:
http://www.tmssoftware.com/site/blog.asp?a=hideblogbox&post=280

But it needs the "Barcode Scanner" app to be installed.

I'm curious if anybody can solve it with the new XE7 .jar files?
